Our story
How WWA began
Wildlife Welfare Association (WWA) is a registered non-governmental organisation. It began in 2013 by rescuing reptiles and other wildlife in the city of Thane, and within a few years spread to other regions of Maharashtra, with work in Kerala, Karnataka and Odisha as well.
WWA was started by Aniket Rajendra Kadam and Aditya Dinkar Patil, who remain dedicated to the study, welfare and research of wildlife. Our members come from different walks of life. They give their time out of love and respect for wildlife, and play a vital role in rescuing animals found in distress.
Rescued animals are examined, and treated when they are injured or unwell. They are released back to the nearest suitable green area only after proper medical attention and observation.
India is home to rich wildlife but records around a million snakebites a year, many of them caused by a lack of awareness. Our vision is an India where people live peacefully alongside the wildlife around them, without fatal conflict.
