" Indian Rock Python battling for life succumbed to its Injuries"

" Indian Rock Python battling for life succumbed to its Injuries"

On morning of 4th July 2019 , we received a distressed call regarding a lifeless Python lying near the gate of TMC School at Patonapada , Yeoor.
Our rescuer team member Mansi Nathawani reached the spot and was shocked to see a 9 feet python lying lifeless with wounds all over its body and blood oozing out of its mouth. She safely put it in a cotton bag and rushed to Chariars Clinic for further treatment.

Dr Kiran Shelar examined the reptile and cleaned the wounds. He gave antibiotics to the snake. He said that python was hit by sticks and stones. Its lower jaw was dislocated and paralyzed. Its head was swollen and eye had blood in it. It also had wounds at neck and heart. He said we need to keep it under observation. Python's body temperature was very low .

Later we came to know that python was attacked by locals at night with sticks and sharp stones. They thought it died and left it there. It was alive all night drenching in a heavy rain.

We informed Yeoor Range forest office regarding this and took their permission to keep snake with us. We kept snake in a wooden box with a light bulb to keep it warm. We followed up with doctor every two day for its treatment. It showed some signs of recovery but on evening of 9th July 2019 he breath his last.

We want to thank Dr Kiran Shelar for his tireless effort to save python's life.

Sometimes we win , Sometimes we lose.
