Small Indian Civet rescued Bhandup

On 25th January 2019 a distress call was reported to the helpline number of Maharashtra Forest department regarding a wildcat which was in distressed condition. Immediately after receiving the call our rescuers Omkar Kolekar, Nikhil Parab & Turshar Bhogale rushed towards the rescue site.

It was identified to be a Small Indian Civet. As there weren't any physical injuries we immediately rushed the Civet cat to Dr. Charriar's Clinic. It wasexamined by Dr. Kiran Shelar. After examination, a conclusion was made that the animal was malnourished as well as indicated neurological dysfunction. Treatment was started immediately and painkillers were administered as the poor cat seemed to be limping while trying to walk.

After the treatment we took the cat to our transit center as it required constant observation and treatments at regular intervals. Forest department was intimated regarding the same. The civet was offered some food, and it seemed to be eating just fine. But while working with wild animals everything is unpredictable, on the noon of 26th January (just a next day after the rescue) the poor Civet passed away.

Sometimes no matter what we do, fate is what matters.
