3 Leopard nails were seized from a jwellery shop in Lower Parel.

On 21st December 2018 in a joint operation by Team of Wildlife Welfare Association , Mumbai forest department and Wildlife Crime control bureau 3 Leopard nails were seized from a jwellery shop in Lower Parel.

We got tip off from our confidential sources that this shop is selling leopard nails in the name of "American Diamond Shell" . Acting quickly we got in touch with WCCB and Mumbai Forest department and planned the operation.

Shop owner Mr. Laxman Dulani was caught raid handed while selling 3 nails for XX price. All three nails were seized and case was filed under relevant section of Wildlife Protection Act 1972. Nails are sent to forensic lab for DNA testing and results are awaited.

Recently leopard poaching case was reported from inside aarey colony and later during inspection 30 wire snares were recovered. This is very serious issue and we have to be vigilant to stopped this activities.
