On 13th December at around 12.30 pm our rescue team members rescued one Indian Eagle Owl from Indal Company, Vitawa.
Owl was lying in the company premises from last 3 days but workers didn't inform anyone. It was unable to fly and move without food and water. Today company supervisor found it sitting in the corner and called on our helpline to rescue the poor bird.
Soon our rescue team members Jatin Patkar and Mayur Dalvi reached the spot and rescued the bird safely. It was severely dehydrated. They offered it some water and quickly shifted it to Thane SPCA .
It is under observation at the hospital and we hope it will be recovered soon to return to its natural habitat.
The Indian eagle-owl, also called the rock eagle-owl or Bengal eagle-owl (Bubo bengalensis), is a species of large horned owl restricted to the Indian Subcontinent. They are found in hilly and rocky scrub forests, and are usually seen in pairs. They are typically large owls, and have "tufts" on their heads. They are splashed with brown and grey, and have a white throat patch with black small stripes.
Like anyother owls these are also considered as a ill omen. Thats why these birds are killed to bring bad luck to someone. Recently during Telangana assembly election owls were seized. There use in black magic is also widespread. It is the most traded species of owl. Due to this things there number is declining.
