WWA rescuers succeeded in rescuing a monkey

On 19-12-2017 WWA rescuers succeeded in rescuing a monkey with the help of Thane forest department and Disaster management cell.

The monkey was spreading fear amongst locals since 2 weeks .As the monkey was constantly transposing from one part of the city to another, it was not confirmed or it was uncertain that whether a single monkey was responsible for all the havoc created in different parts of city regarding which fire brigade, Thane forest department & Thane municipal corporation were continuously receiving calls about monkey bite .

On the night of 18 December Wildlife Welfare Association rescuers received a call of same situation above mentioned, unfortunately rescue was not possible to due to lack of equipment as it was already late night. But they succeeded in marking the monkey with ink for easy identification to confirm whether it was same monkey or not.

Next day (19 December), WWA received a call from Charai regarding ink marked monkey ,( smart decision last night to mark monkey with ink to identify )which confirmed their doubt that it was none other than same monkey creating havoc everywhere .

As it was roaming all over the city capturing it in the cage was not possible. After discussing the matter with RFO and DCF we decided to tranquillize the monkey. DCF Dr. Jitendra Ramgaonkar immediately gave permission and made necessary arrangement. Following rescue operation was successfully completed by WWA rescue team with the coordination of Thane forest department and disaster management cell which managed to tranquilize and trap the monkey successfully.

After rescuing the monkey safely it was handed over to Thane Range forest office team. After basic treatment it will be transferred to rehabilitation centre.

WWA rescuers Aniket Kadam, ROhit Mohite, Nikhil Parab, Jeet Gupta, Sushil Gaikwad and Omkar Kolekar were present during whole rescue operation which lasted 8 hours.

We want to Thank Pardeshi dada and Nichite anna from Thane range forest office who were present throughout the rescue operation with us.

Also many thanks to DCF Dr. Jitendra Ramgaonkar sir for acting promptly and supporting us in whole operation.
