Recently our volunteer Hari Reddy received distress call about snake being stuck in the glue trap from a society in Rawet, Pune.
Upon reaching the spot he identified snake as Common Trinket Snake. There was also a dead rat stuck in the trap. Snake must have come there to eat the rat and in the process got stick to the pad.
After hard work of 30-35 minutes snake was carefully removed out of the glue trap with the help of vegetable oil. Later it was cleaned with lukewarm water and cotton cloth.
In the past our organization has rescued many Birds, snakes and squirrels from the glue traps in Society and Company premises.
Glue trap is not the best method to control rat population.This method is very cruel and other animals also suffer due to this.There are many other methods available in the market. We should use that methods.
As per the AWBI guidelines use of Glue Traps is banned.
